It was so much fun to work on a bird and lion bead embroidery custom order project!
Design Idea
I have no idea about the meaning of this lion and a bird! It was my client’s idea, and I asked only those questions that helped me implement the design the best way. It is always hard to guess what does a client see in his/her mind. Sometimes it is more challenging if, on top of that, I have my own vision of a finished project which might get in a way. Some designers don’t accept client participation in the design. I think if I agreed to a custom order job, I have to try incorporating my client’s wishes into the canvas of the final product. What do you think?
Preparation
Preparation took almost as long as working on the embroidery. It was interesting to learn about many types and kinds of craft frames. My backing material was also a background material. So I had to be extremely careful with it: keep it clean, avoid making mistakes, and keep it in place while working. Transferring the drawing onto a backing material was also meant stitching the outline of the picture onto fabric in detail.
Bird and Lion Embroidery Process
I usually make embroidered jewelry, so creating a flat embroidery picture without cabochons or crystals was somewhat new to me. Still, I have experience embroidering large pieces, like the Denim Latte necklace, Luna City, and Kona Dreams. If I wanted to compare Lion and a bird embroidery to my other works, this project was more guided, meaning I had exact lines of the drawing to follow rather than creating a free-form design.
Future Embroidery Projects
Knowing how much time it takes to create such a design, I don’t know if I will be able to concentrate on a similar project again soon. On the other hand, after the preparation for the project is done, it is pure joy to listen to an audiobook or interesting podcast and focus on the embroidery.
It is a blessing to have clients who order such interesting craft designs during these uncertain times!
