The new DiamonDuo Flower earrings are super easy to make!
I recently published a free tutorial for a DiamonDuo flower motif which is the center of attention in these earrings. Your earrings don’t have to be green, of course! Pick your favorite colors and play!
You Will Need
- Two beaded DiamonDuo flower motifs
- a pair of earring studs
- a couple of metal tube findings 1″ long
- two jump rings
- and two crimps (optional)
Solving a Jewelry Problem With Crimps
I didn’t find closed jumprings when I was making these earrings. So I used crimps instead. I had several kinds of jewelry crimps and chose the thick ones. Crimps from an exceedingly soft metal may not be good enough for long-term use. You can still use them for learning purposes, of course. For example, if you are making these earrings with kids.
Your jumprings should easily go through the crimp, so check it before you finish making these earrings.
How I Made DiamonDuo Flower Earrings
The only beading I had to do was weaving in and hiding the thread after the earring was complete. The process is straightforward.
I used the remaining thread I left after I finished weaving the motif. First I made sure the thread is exiting the top bead of one of the petals.
Then without using a needle, I threaded it through the metal tube and a crimp. Next the thread went back to the tube, and only then I threaded my needle to weave the tail in and hide it in the earring structure.
Next, using jewelry pliers, I attached the studs to the earrings with jumprings.
Of course, you have options not to use metal tubes at all, and make earrings with earwire instead of studs. It is up to you!
