Earth Goddess Color Palette

Earth Goddess color palette is perfect for any classic jewelry design. I used it for my Earth Goddess bracelet bead embroidery. The main reason why I called it Earth Goddess was, of course, the colors resembling colors of the soil, sand, rocks, and metals.

Metals

When I think of the earth colors, I see shades of the metals primarily used in jewelry: silver, gold, bronze.

Metallic colors have a particular strength, solidity, and richness to them.

When we see metallic colors in fashion design, we might associate them with certain psychological feelings:

  • Aluminum – cool – new, durable, modern
  • Brass – warm – rich, durable
  • Bronze – warm – rich, old, solid
  • Chrome – cold – hard, durable, sparkly
  • Gold – warm – rich, classy
  • Silver – cool – rich, mellow

Gold and silver also might evoke a historically cultivated feeling of social status.

Soil and Sand

Colors of soil or dirt are usually close to brown, which is technically a mix of many colors. Light shades of sand, like fashion colors named “cream” and “weat”, create depth when positioned next to the dark brown.

Rocks and Minerals

Rocks and minerals offer a lot more variety of colors than I used for the Earth Goddess palette. If you look closer at the bracelet design, you might notice off-white beads, the colors of which I would rather attribute to silica.

Black beads also represent rocks in this palette.

Earth Goddess Palette Paired with Fashion Colors

When I was planning Earth Goddess design, I intended to combine it with classic fashion colors: white, black, and tan. Light blue, yellow, brown, and green colors could be added to this list, but they are not in everybody’s wardrobe, I think. For example, I don’t own yellow clothes. Do you? Tell me in the comments which color you avoid wearing for a long time?

Fashion color names are a somewhat different language.

What colors of garments would I choose to wear with beadwork created using the Earth Goddess color palette?

  • Cream
  • Egg Shell White
  • Wheat
  • Mustard
  • Lemon Yellow
  • Rose Beige
  • Nectarine
  • Tangerine Tango
  • Coffee
  • Caramel
  • Copper
  • Chocolate
  • Nutmeg
  • Tobacco
  • Charcoal

I would avoid wearing pink, purple, and red every time I wear beadwork in the Earth Goddess palette.

If you have been beading for a long time, you most likely own a piece of jewelry in this palette. What do you wear it with?
