Feather pendant black and orange beading idea was inspired by Halloween colors.
The color of these feathers was too “pumpkin” to ignore it. So I immediately decided it is going to be a fall season jewelry.
Peyote Stitch Cylinder
The base structure of this pendant features the peyote stitch cylinder.
I used 11/0 seed beads to weave a rectangle, starting with 30 seed beads. Then I connected the flat beadwork by zipping it just like I show in my peyote cylinder tutorial.
Czech Piggy Beads
I decorated the cylinder with Preciosa Czech glass Piggy beads. Because they have two holes, I decided to decorate these beads, too. So I placed 3 mm Czech firepolish beads on top of the Piggy beads. I also added one 15/0 seed bead on each side of the firepolish bead to avoid thread exposure.
Feathers
I tied the feathers tightly and sewed through them a couple of times to keep them together. When I placed them into the beaded cylinder, I stitched through the cylinder and the feathers several times to secure the placement.
My Style
I like city-style jewelry and abstract forms. This pendant reminds me of a modern city building in the evening, and the feathers keep people in this building happy and cheerful.
I always make jewelry I like to wear myself. If I sell it, I get triple rewarded being absolutely happy that someone loved the same style of jewelry I like.
What is your idea of a fall pendant? Have you tried beading with feathers?
