Have you ever tried creating a peyote bracelet following my bracelet idea?
Those who did, eventually came up with a question: how do I keep track of the free-form design while working on the decoration part of the project?
Peyote Stitch Beaded Bracelet Free-form Design Tip
Free-form beading is fun, but keeping a balance of design elements is important for those who sell their work, or participate in beading and art contests.
While adding several tiny beads at a time, you might lose track of all the design elements and their placements on the bracelet. Such happy beading moments may result in an unbalanced composition where there are more large beads on one side and none on the other. Or, there are more accent beads of color A in the center and on one side, but color B took over the other side of the composition.
To avoid this, I use a rough sketch of the design on the tracing paper.
The sketch contains shades or colors of accent beads.
Every time I add a group of accent color beads, I check with the sketch.
There is no need to follow the sketch accurately, measuring the exact locations of every accent. I feel free to change it while I work on a bracelet. However, it is important to check the whole picture, evaluating the balance of the composition.
