Spring always inspires me to make more flowers!
So I made this red and pink beaded flower with a crystal center.
After I found my pendant with purple and white petals, which I made some time ago, I wanted to make more flowers. Back then, I used a brick stitch technique. However, I did not forget that one of the ways to make a beaded flower is to use the Peyote stitch technique.
Pink Beaded Flower Creative Process
First, I made the lower petals following the peyote stitch flower tutorial technique.
Then I adjusted the number of beads to make different sizes of petals, and then, I made the upper petals.
Then I connected the lower (bigger) petals and the upper (smaller) petals, making two separate circles of petals.
The challenging part was to connect these two circles, or layers, together. Counting seed beads at the end of each petal, and sewing through the same corresponding bead each time helped.
Then this pink beaded flower needed a center. I made a bezeled 12 mm crystal covering it with red and pink seed beads (the same I used in the petal). I didn’t cover the back of the crystal with beads, as I show in my tutorial, because I knew it would be covered with petals. It won’t be rubbed against any surfaces later. Also, it was easier to use the seed beads in the last row on the back of the crystal as connections when I started attaching the bezeled crystal to the flower.
After I attached all the elements, I made a simple bail in the back of the flower using a harringbone stitch. I sew several times through it so it would be strong enough, even though the weight of the flower is not that big comparing to its size. The bail is the reason one part of the flower looks raised when it is on a flat surface like you see it in the video.
So, I hope it is not the last flower I will make this season. The next one I make will probably be a brooch for one of my dresses.
