Protecting your beading thread is easy when you have suitable jewelry findings and you know how to use them!
If you like making beaded bracelets, you probably already found out that bracelets clasps tend to wear out after some time of using them. The thread is not always to blame!
Sometimes, the clasps are just not designed for beaded jewelry.
That is why you shouldn’t use beaded jewelry findings. Instead, try using wire jewelry findings to make your beadwork last longer.
Try wire protectors, or wire guards, for your beading projects, and use your thread in place of wire when you stitch through the wire protector and attach the beading clasp to your wearable artwork.
In my video demonstration, I show how I use wire-protectors to protect the bead thread from constantly rubbing against a metal part of a clasp. Using wire protectors, you can diminish the danger of rubbing, stretching, and finally wearing out your beading thread when the jewelry piece is worn.
For example, in the video, I used a bracelet designed by me and attached a clasp also using wire protectors. One way is to use one needle, and the other way is to use two needles. Choose what is more suitable for your beading project.
Overall, protecting your beading thread in a jewelry artwork prolongs its life and makes the owner of this piece happier!
Happy beading!
